Description
“The desert could not be claimed or owned–it was a piece of cloth carried by winds, never held down by stones, and given a hundred shifting names…” ~Michael Ondaatje
The cold desert of McCullough Peaks, near Cody, Wyoming, is home to over 100 wild horses and I fell in love with it! The panoramic views from the top of McCullough Peaks are outstanding and include not only the badlands but views of Heart Mountain, the Beartooth Mountains and the Absaroka Range.
The Peaks area is right at a mile high with the Peak itself reaching up to 6513 feet and with limited roads in the area, solitude can be easily obtained.
You will experience all kinds of weather, meet colorful locals, and witnessed incredible wild horse behavior!
