Description
“The combatants met each other walking on hind legs, striking with forefeet, ears laid back, mouths open, teeth bared. They raked the hide from each other, made deep cuts. They screamed. Their teeth slipping off from flesh clicked together. They sought jugular veins. They lunged their whole weight against each other.” ~The Mustangs, 1934
I think that sums up this image! What do you think?
The dark stallion, rising out of the ground like the devil himself, is a bachelor, and he made his rounds this late afternoon in McCullough Peaks east of Cody, Wyoming! Over and over he would challenge the band stallions on their way to and from water. Mostly in jest, until this moment, when agonistic behavior escalated exponentially!
Whew….and then it was over and he was on to the next challenge!
