Description
The bond at birth, the innocence of the wild ones, a mother’s love, however you want to think about it or describe it, there is nothing more profound. I feel this is one of the most powerful images in the Fly Without Wings collection. Wild band stallion, Satellite’s distinctive harem mare, Sweetheart, and her days old colt, Rocky.
This wild mare, Sweetheart, changed worlds in 2018. She lived a long and free life in Theodore Roosevelt National Park and left this world on her own terms. Her wild colt, Rocky, with her in this image was only a day old. He was born in the spring of 2015 now lives in his new freedom home in Germany. He was adopted as a yearling and is a voice for America’s wild mustangs in that faraway land of Europe.
“I see you from afar—fragile and shy as a star gleaming through a cloudy rift” ~John Geddes
Wild, harem mare, Sweetheart, and her day old colt, Rocky, wild in their innocence and the ultimate reflection of love!
This image has become my favorite in the Fly Without Wings collection and along with Absolutely Wild will hang in our home.
Sweetheart was sneaky in keeping her new boy a secret from Lincoln, Melissa, and I! If it weren’t for a message from, Amy, saying “What did Sweetheart have?” it may have been more than a day before we found his existence! I was like hmmmm…I just saw her but didn’t see a wee one. A trip back to the park and a hike out with Marylu and friends, revealed Rocky in all his sweet innocence!
We are donating a percentage of the sale of this print to Walk By Faith Therapeutic Riding, a legitimate non-profit in located in northern Minnesota who use wild horses in their program giving hope back to the lives of children and veterans.
