This is a limited edition image of five (2 left in the series) and I wake up to the artist’s proof of this quiet image of my steadfast friend and partner, Annie, every morning. Her name is Tara Anna (Annie), she is 26-years-old, a quarter horse, and has been with me since the tender of age of two, when she picked me out of herd on a quarter horse farm in Iowa.
Annie has lived with me in Texas, Tennessee, Virginia, and she herself lived on our friend’s ranch in South Dakota and that is where she gave birth to Dani, an own daughter by Freckle’s Gentleman (a full brother to Freckles Playboy). Annie has a son by Nu Chex’s to Cash, Tugboat, a son by an own son of Dual Pep, Hunky Tonk (deceased), Col, and a granddaughter, Olive. All of whom live on the farm with us and who we call the Five Fat Quarter Horses.
She has two more sons, one an own son of Elan’s Playboy who is a ranch horse in Nebraska and Pipes her first born and a full brother to Col, who lives in Oklahoma.
She is the matriarch. Her quiet and gentle manner is respected by the seven who live on our farm and she doesn’t ask much from me, hay in the winter, grass in the summer, and in turn she provides a mane to rub my face in and soak in the smell and a neck to hug!
This image, limited to five prints with three left are 24×16 and printed by a master printer on Hahnemuhle 308 photo rag fine art paper. It is signed, numbered, and titled with a graphite pencil by the artist and includes a Certificate of Authenticity (COA).
