Description
“A legacy is not about what you did while you were there it is what happens when you are gone.” ~Darrell Waltrip
We honor this stout and tenacious wild stallion, Redface, in this print which will be known as “Wild Blue Yonder”! Redface was the 14th foal born in the year of 2001, that year dominated by 9/11 and he left the physical realm, on his terms, in a year dominated by yet another war, 2023.
Redface leaves behind a rich legacy in his beloved landscape, the badlands of Theodore Roosevelt National Park (TRNP), where lives have been shaped—animal and human alike. His wild legacy also nurtures lives off the range, as his successfully adopted offspring are scattered across America leaving their mark on each human they meet.
After perusing 4626 images captured of him and his harem in the spring of 2015, I bring you this image taken on Boicourt Ridge on March 26th, 2015. In this fine art print, Redface is sporting his transition coat from winter to summer; this is his spring coat of almost white!
It was captured after a classic Redface and Lakota moment. Lakota his flirtatious harem mare, had a thing for other stallions, and was well known for coyly wandering off. This morning band stallion, Thunder, was her target, and as always, Redface went to retrieve her with a sound scolding after.
Each of you who follow this beloved herd, our legacy is entwined with Redface and all of the other wild horses that live in that magical place of TRNP. Some of us follow from afar, some of us have been blessed to witness first-hand the magic of wild, some are fortunate to live close to TRNP and witness often this landscape filled with wonder.
Regardless of your personal connection to Redface, his harem, his sons and daughters, we are their great human herd, and it is up to us to protect his family and Ms. Pinnacles family.
So grateful for your support of America’s wild horses and more specifically this heart herd, the wild horses of TRNP. It’s better to have fought for something that touches your heart and deserves your voice, right or wrong, than to sit silently by and ‘hope’ it all works out.
Your fine art print of Redface, will be printed using a ten color printer with archival inks and produced on a German paper, Hahnemuhle 308, a 100% cotton photo rag fine art paper with a deckled edge. This open edition, fine art print will be nothing like what you see on your monitor, your print will be richer, filled with more detail, color, and contain impressive pictorial depth. Each print will be titled and signed with a graphite pencil and when framed using archival methods will be an investment into the history of a powerful wild mustang to pass down to future generations.
