“Nature is a tonic that can neither be packaged nor bottled… It eases the mind and soothes the senses.” ~Melanie Charlene
The Tonic of Wild should be taken in large doses, daily!
The southern part of Wyoming outside Rock Springs is where these two stallions roam and on this day they thought a sweet, young, curly filly the color of blood as she is bay, was worth squabbling over! Vicious bites leaving bits of hair hanging from that big palomino’s mouth, dust flying, boxing of the best kind as they would rear and strike at each other and all of this happening as the sun slipped below the horizon line!
My friend was a blessing to me as he visits this herd often and knew right where to find them this day in March of 2018. The snow was mostly gone, wee foals were everywhere, and stallion activity was ramping up.
Just out of this image is the harem of that bay stallion and what always fascinates me as the stallions exhibit this kind of behavior, the mares don’t even look up from their daily activities. Even the filly they were fighting over sauntered away like nothing was going on.
Boys, they are the same the world over where the opposite sex is involved. Kidding…but as my heart pounds observing their antics and hear the thud of their bodies colliding and cringe from their expressive squeals and screams, I am so very, very grateful for these wild Mustangs and all they represent and offer to this great country we call home!
