This image is the epitome of the wild stallion, Blaze, and it is my personal favorite of him. After he died in March of 2017 fighting with another stallion his images have taken on a whole new meaning!
Absolutely Wild, but he is called Blaze by those who have tracked the genetics of the TRNP wild horses for over 60 years. He is a wild stallion and lives in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in Medora, ND.
I encountered him in November of 2012 after a long hike into the backcountry, my life was enriched in many, many ways. He is one of my favorite stallions and in this image he is pictured with his mare, Escape! This image was captured in 2015 as part of the Fly Without Wings project!
