We found our fifth foal yesterday. So far there is Badlands, Denali, Lassen, Sleeping Bear, and yesterday’s wee one is, Bryce. If you recall, the 2015 foals are being named after national parks.
We found our fifth foal after an already pretty special day in the park! She/He was icing on the cake! The baby was so new we didn’t pressure her Momma to try and determine the sex. We will head back another day for that.
I am introducing you to Lassen today. Marylu, Lincoln, and I found her on Thursday, March 20th. One week ago today. Wow the days fly by out here! When we first found her she was one day old. She is in Cocoa’s band and her sweet mom is Stormy.
She is named after Lassen Volcanic National Park, located in California, and home to steaming fumaroles, meadows freckled with wildflowers, clear mountain lakes, and numerous volcanoes. Jagged peaks tell the story of its eruptive past while hot water continues to shape the land.
We finished our day yesterday by viewing a Great Horned Owl nesting in a very special place and two male bison, tongues hanging out, their goatees swinging, doing laps through the sage. I wonder what today will bring!
Have an amazing day in your part of the world! Thanks again for all your support!
