2018 Blaze Calendar
Available for purchase is a 2018 twelve month collector’s edition calendar honoring the blue-eyed, wild stallion Blaze.
Blaze was claimed by the badlands of Theodore Roosevelt National Park on March 19, 2017. He lived his last moments, I believe, fighting with band stallion, Sidekick, based on the muddy tracks around the area where he was found and Sidekick’s telltale forearm puncture wound several days after Blaze went missing. I believe the fight was intense and the law of the Badlands won out and he did not see the sinkhole he now forever lies in.
Each image captured in the short time I experienced his wild persona from 2012 through 2017 signifies his wild spirit and each month has a stanza from Maegen McCaslin’s poem written in his honor the evening I posted he was gone. Each month will also show the year the image was captured and approximate location in the park.
Blaze touched a lot of souls and I am ever so thankful for the opportunity to have been in his presence and to share his spirit with you. The proceeds from the calendar will be used to fund the journey to Stallions, a photographic exhibit coming in the fall of 2018 in the continuing endeavor of finding adoptive homes or placement in genuine long term sanctuaries for America's wild horses! Blaze's contribution lives on in raising awareness for the historical wild horses of America.
